Curtis family certificates, 1811, 1849.

Certificate that Marvin Curtis of Coventry, Connecticut, was a member of the First Company of Governors Foot Guards, 1811, signed by Nathaniel Terry. Also a printed form signed and sealed by nine men who formed an association called "The Cedar Street Pioneers" who were going to California to work the mines. They agreed that they would not drink alcohol, would observe the Sabbath, and would work in California for two years, among other things. The first person named on the document and the first person to sign was Lucien Curtis, Martin Curtis' son.
